The ACT Today for Military Families 5k/10k Run and Family Festival will take place on Saturday, April 02, 2011 in San Diego, CA. The event, which is part of a national campaign, benefits military families of children with autism.

"I am honored to play a role in this event, " says Daphne Plump, Chief Executive Consultant of D. Plump Consulting. "The number of military families with children with autism is staggering."

"In addition, I have two brothers who are military heroes (U.S. Marine and U.S Navy). I also served alongside NATO soldiers in Kosovo as a broadcast news correspondent, not to mention being a regular 'ole citizen. It is my honor - my duty to help give back to these heroes who are in need of assistance."

According to ACT Today!, the national nonprofit organization hosting the event, one out of every 88 military children has a diagnosis on the autism spectrum. It is well established that with early and effective treatments, children with autism can make significant gains and greatly improve their overall quality of life.
ACT Today! for Military Families is committed to providing funding and support for military families impacted by autism. Your donation will help military children achieve their full potential.
"Military families shoulder tremendous responsibilities today due to multiple and lengthy deployments," says ACT Today's! Executive Director Nancy Alspaugh-Jackson.  "Military families impacted by autism face even more extraordinary circumstances, and access to effective autism services is limited. With the nation's support, we can make a difference in the life of a military child today and provide hope for a better tomorrow."
